Create a New Student
From Admin Mode, select the Students tab. If the student(s) you want to add do not appear in the search, select the New button, and choose Create New Student from the drop-down menu.
Complete the required information, then select Save.
- For more information about where these fields appear or what is required, refer to the import file field descriptions.
Import Students
Import Students allows a Gradient Leader to add students' first name, last name, Student ID, and GradeCam ID in the Student tab without needing to create a Combined Import file. This is a quick way to add a group of students but will require the extra step of adding students to classes.
From Admin Mode, select the Students tab. Select the New button, and choose Import Student from the drop-down menu.
- Use the required Import File Template (Import Students tab).
- Select or drag the Student file and choose Next.
- Verify that the changes shown are correct (and resolve any errors in the file) before clicking Next.
- Click Run Import.
- The Students tab will now show the imported students.
Edit Students
A student's first name, last name, Student ID, and GradeCam ID can be edited.
Note: If the school/district account is syncing nightly, either with a Student Information System (SIS) sync or Clever/ClassLink, students should not be edited. All changes to any students should be updated in the SIS to update the nightly sync file.
The Edit icon allows the account admin to change the student's first name, last name, Student ID, and GradeCam ID.
- In Admin Mode, select the Students tab.
- Select a student by checking the box before his or her name. Click Edit.
- Make changes and then select SAVE.
Edit Custom Data
The Edit Custom Data icon allows you to change the student's demographic information. The Custom Fields will need to be created by the account admin before editing can be done.
- In Admin Mode, select the Students tab on the home page.
- Select a student by checking the box before his or her name. Click Edit Custom Data.
- Make changes and then select Save.
Next Steps
After manually adding students, next steps may include:
- Adding classes
- Adding students to classes
- Enabling the permission for staff to manage student movement from classes. See our July 2022 Release Notes for details
- Adding Custom Fields and then re-importing students with demographic data to match the custom fields
The feature(s) mentioned are only available to Gradient for Schools & Districts subscribers. Please contact sales@gradecam.com to upgrade your subscription.
