The Import Log provides a record of all file import attempts into Gradient regardless of the import status (Completed, Incomplete, or Failed). A Gradient System Admin can view the history of imports and run all import options from the Imports tab in Admin Mode. From the Import Log, you can access file details and review changes and errors that have occurred throughout the file import process. The Import Log houses all import file attempts and allows you to troubleshoot your roster files.
Import Tab Navigation
The Import Log can be viewed from Admin Mode > More tab drop-down menu > Imports. From the Imports tab, click the blue New button to reveal the drop-down menu with all available import options. By default, all imports will be listed on the Import log. Use the FILTERS from the left side panel to organize the Import Log by import Type and import Status.

The Import log displays the following fields as columns:

Troubleshooting with the Import Log
The Import Log identifies where import errors may have occurred, along with details related to the cause. If you need help understanding the Import Log fields, contact support@gradecam.com or read more about your options below.
Click on any blue File Name to review the Import Details window. From the window, click the caret icon before the Changes or Errors section to reveal specific information. Click the blue File Name again to download and view the selected File as a download. Regardless of the Status, you can always download and view the file.
Common Import Errors:
- Imports may Fail. This often happens when either Term_ID or School_ID column data doesn't match the field in Gradient or these fields are missing in Gradient. Verify that the banner at the top of your login page is labeled with the CURRENT Academic Year, too.
- An import will also Fail if the column order or column headers do not match the Import File Template tab of the selected import option. Review the Import File Template Overview and click on the File Name from the Import Log to download and review the attempted import file format.
- An import that does not have unique Class IDs will be recorded as a Completed import in Gradient. However, this will reflect in Gradient as 1.) classes with too many students rostered, or 2.) the total count of classes created is less than expected. Contact support@gradecam.com to delete your imported classes immediately and start fresh with a new import with a unique ID for each class section. Or, if student data has already been connected to the created class, edit the Class ID and run another Combined Import File with the missing classes and updated Class IDs. We recommend concatenating teacher information with the Class Name and Class Period to create unique Class IDs.
- Click on the text in the Summary column (or the File Name) > caret icon before Changes to check that the summary of information reflects what you wanted to do (number of created or updated teachers, students, and classes). If it doesn't, click the File Name from the Import Details window to download and review your file.
