NEW! Scan for a Class Group
Users with the Student Data Visibility Permission now have a more organized approach to scan forms for classes that are not directly assigned to them. They will utilize the Scan for a Class Group button, which will seamlessly redirect them to the new Class Group Scanning area.
All System Admins have the Student Data Visibility Permission by default. They will be required to create Class Groups to scan for students and classes that aren't assigned to them.
Here's what you can expect based on your account setup:
1. User with Student Visibility Permission AND Their Own Classes:
- When the user clicks Scan Forms for My Classes, the scanner initiates as usual.
- If the forms detected belong to a class that isn't yours, a clear error message will guide you.
2. User with Student Visibility Permission and NO Classes of Their Own:
- When the user clicks Scan for a Class Group, they will be directed to the new Class Group Scanning area.
- If the forms detected belong to a student not in the selected Class Group, a clear error message will guide you.
Why the Change?
We've implemented this update to provide a clearer distinction between scanning for your classes and others, offering a more user-friendly and intuitive experience. This enhancement is particularly helpful when dealing with forms that weren't specifically pre-filled for the student/class combination.
We believe this change will greatly improve your workflow, making student data management more efficient and tailored to your needs.
Add Co-Teachers to Clever/ClassLink Synced Classes
Users now have the ability to edit the Co-teachers field for Clever/ClassLink-synced classes. This feature provides users a straightforward way to add co-teachers to Gradient classes without needing adjustments in their Student Information Systems (SIS) or Clever/ClassLink data.
NOTE: If a co-teacher was added to a class via a sync source, they cannot be removed in Gradient.
While this enhancement provides a convenient solution, we still recommend using your SIS as the source of truth. If possible, add co-teachers directly to your SIS for comprehensive data accuracy. This feature is now an option for users who encounter challenges while adding co-teachers through their usual roster channels. Gradient is here to provide a solution to keep your workflow smooth and efficient!

Class Display Names Update!
Admin Mode > Account Menu > Settings now houses a new setting, Imports, allowing admins to toggle on the setting to Ignore Class Display Names. Class Display Names give administrators an easy way to manage the naming of classes that appear in Gradient for teachers.
If your rosters are being automatically synced nightly into Gradient, you will want to toggle on the setting for Ignore Class Display Names. This will allow you to update Class Display Names manually or via a one-time Import Class Display Names File without the nightly sync overriding the manual inputs.
NEW! Class Groups and Online Access
The allows staff members to create Class Groups so they can easily organize classes for the purpose of printing forms, scanning students' responses, and setting up online access.
-
Users with the Student Data Visibility permission can assign online access in the following ways:
-
Search their own classes
-
Search their own students
-
Search Class Groups
-
-
Users have the ability to assign online access for multiple classes at once.
NOTE: If teachers need access to the data, the user may share the assignment with the applicable sharing permissions.
This is especially helpful when creating a Class Group and needing to print forms and scan students' responses for school-wide benchmarks or mock SAT or ACT tests for students who are not directly assigned to you. Assignment sharing rules still apply.
