By default, assignments are not shared to anyone and are only accessible to the assignment author. This article describes the options an assignment author has in sharing the assignment to other staff (according to their school associations).
Assignment sharing allows an assignment author to grant varying levels of access to an assignment for the purpose of delivering the assignment, viewing student performance data for the assignment, or both.
Assignment Sharing Options
Within Gradient, a Teacher is defined as a staff member with assigned classes/sections. As a result, the assignment-sharing options listed below will work for most* Teachers (and Co-Teachers) who want to access an assignment for the purpose of scanning, setting up online access, and/or viewing student performance data for the classes rostered to them.
*If a staff member does not have classes or students rostered to them in Gradient (principals, coaches, special education teachers), skip down to the last section of this article for ideas about how to provide these staff members access to deliver assignments or view reports.
1. From within an assignment, navigate to the top left drop-down menu next to the assignment name, choose Share Assignment. |
|
2. Using the Share With field, enter the name of the staff member (at your associated schools) or the group (ask your Gradient Leader for group names), that you want to share with. | |
3. Choose the assignment-sharing permissions that meet your needs:

Sharing with a Co-Teacher
Co-Teachers need assignments shared to them just like all teachers. Follow the Assignment Sharing Options above. If the co-teacher does not appear when you are searching for staff, review the linked co-teacher article for how co-teachers can be added to Gradient via Clever, ClassLink, or to a manually created class within Gradient.
Staff NOT added as Co-Teacher: Staff that have not been synced as co-teachers or manually added to classes as co-teachers within Gradient may gain access to assignments through the following options:
- Teacher Groups allow educators to quickly share assignments to all users within a group at once. Teachers in the group can then administer the assignment to any of their classes. Sharing permissions are set for the whole group when the assignment is shared. Teacher Groups are created by admins in Admin Mode.
-
Class Groups allow users with the Student Visibility Permission a way to easily organize classes for the purpose of printing forms, scanning students' responses, and setting up online access. Simply add classes to the group, and you can print forms, scan responses, and set up online access for all the students in those classes from your own assignment.
- Using Class Groups should be unnecessary with the option to add co-teachers to a class.
- The Student Visibility Permission grants staff members access to the Teacher page in Teacher Mode and the ability to easily organize classes for the purpose of printing forms, scanning students' responses, and setting up online access.
The feature(s) mentioned are only available to Gradient for Schools & Districts subscribers. Please contact sales@gradecam.com to upgrade your subscription.
