Student Information System Sync

GradeCam roster synchronization works by importing a data file generated by the school/district student information system (SIS) into GradeCam every night (or frequency determined during set up). Producing this file is the district / SIS’s responsibility. We are happy to try to assist you in this area, but we are not experts in the different student information systems. It may be necessary to contact the SIS vendor or specialist to setup the report and schedule it to run on a regular basis.

GradeCam provides a script that uploads the generated report to our servers to finish the roster synchronization process. Once GradeCam has validated the initial school/district import was processed successfully, the script and instructions on using the script will be provided to you. The format of, and order of fields in the report must not be modified from one import to the other; otherwise errors are likely to occur. Reference examples of data files to help with any questions on the data file.

01. Initial Import of data file by admin of school/district

1.1 Create the data file from the SIS. For proper syncing, we request that the file not be manually altered in any way.

1.2 Run a Combined Import in Admin mode.

1.3 Contact GradeCam at support@gradecam.com letting them know that the combined import has been completed and ready to proceed with the automated synchronization process.

1.4 GradeCam will provide a script that needs to be scheduled to run every night after the nightly SIS data file has completed. Scheduling the execution of the script is up to you. When executed, the script will upload the report file to the GradeCam servers and the classes in GradeCam will be adjusted accordingly.

1.5 The admin on the school/district GradeCam account is able to view the nightly upload of the data file by selecting the "More" menu and the Imports section.

1.6 At any time, the nightly sync can be stopped by the school/district person that set up nightly sync. If the sync has been discontinued, the classes will not update for the staff.

02. Initial Import of data file by GradeCam support
