Change the camera settings to work properly in GradeCam with your hardware.

01. Change Camera Settings in GradeCam Go!

1.1 Access Teacher Settings

1.2 Select "Settings" from your Account Menu.

1.3 Select a camera from the drop-down menu.

1.4 Flip the camera orientation if scans appear upside down.

02. Other Camera Options

  • Camera is facing me

  • Pause by default

  • Verify if questions that are blank or have extra bubbles. When forms are scanned the user will be prompted to verify.

    • 2.1 Toggle switch to enable any the camera options.

03. Troubleshooting

There are a few issues that could be occurring with the camera not working properly:
Browser issues, Websites being blocked within the school network, Settings on the computer, GradeCam camera settings. To start the troubleshooting process, we suggest that you go through each of the suggestions below. If these do not solve the issue with the camera not working in GradeCam, there are a few questions to answer and send these back to us.

1 - Browser
Do you have a video icon in the upper right of the browser bar that has an X on it that could be blocking the camera from connecting? There may be a pop up that asks you to allow your camera to run or the plugin to run always.

- In Chrome, click on the lock icon to the left of the word Secure in the web browser address is the camera being allowed there?
Is the Chrome extension installed and enabled, To locate: chrome://extensions/ enter in URL bar.
- In Firefox, click on the lock icon to the left of the URL address web browser address - is the camera being allowed there?

2 - Network
Sometimes there are updates that have been run and may cause certain websites to be blocked. Please contact your IT department and make sure that anything with '*' is whitelisted on the district network.

3 - GradeCam Camera settings
Make sure that the GradeCam settings for are recognizing your camera.

4- Computer Settings
Windows computers:
Settings >> Privacy >> Camera (Under App Permissions on the left menu) >> 3 areas to check on this page:
Under the first heading *Allow access to the camera on this device*, confirm that the setting is set to: "Camera access for this device is on".
In the 'Allow apps to access your camera' heading, the setting is "ON".
In the 'Choose which apps can access your camera' heading, if Chrome is in the list, make sure it's set to "ON", as well as the app just called "Camera": "ON".
Mac Computers
For the Chrome browser, make sure permissions to control your computer is turned on.
System Preferences > Privacy tab > Accessibility (left sidebar) > make sure Chrome is checked in this area.

4- Other problem solving
- Is the camera you are using a document camera or an integrated webcam?
- Make sure that no software for your camera is running except for GradeCam (VERY IMPORTANT)
- Does the camera work with other applications?

And finally, try restarting the computer and logging back into GradeCam.
