Types of Imports

There are four types of imports:
1 – Combined
2 – Class
3 – Student
4 – Teacher

Combined Import

A Combined Import will upload classes, students and teachers with one file import. This will associate the students to their classes with the specific teacher for that class. This type of import will connect all data to the school/district subscription. The staff will have full access to all classes when logging into their GradeCam account.

The import “type” will be labeled in the import log as “Full”.

Class Import

A Class Import will upload classes and students. Some data files do not include the teacher information needed for a combined import. Teachers will be imported prior to the class import file with a separate teacher import. This will associate the students to their classes with the specific teacher for that class. This type of import will connect all data to the school/district subscription. The staff will have full access to all classes when logging into their GradeCam account.

The import “type” will be labeled in the import log as “Roster”.

Student Import

A Student Import will upload students’ first names, last names, Student IDs, GradeCam IDs (optional), student emails (optional) and any demographics listed in the file (optional). This will not associate the students to their classes with the specific teachers which will not connect data to the school/district subscription. The staff will not see these students listed in their classes when logging into their GradeCam account if the students were not previously imported with a combined or class import.

A student import may be used when a large number of students’ names, GradeCam IDs, emails or demographics need updated. Student IDs cannot be updated with a student file.

The import “type” will be labeled in the import log as “Student”.

Teacher Import

A Teacher Import will upload teachers’ first names, last names, teacher IDs (optional) and teacher emails. This will not associate the teacher to their classes and students. By only importing the teachers with a teacher import file, no classes or students will show in their GradeCam account when they log in unless previously imported with a combined or class import.

A teacher import may be used when a large number of teachers’ names, teacher IDs or emails need updated.

The import “type” will be labeled in the import log as “Teacher”.
